Negotiation Executive Education

Spent this past week attending the Harvard Program on Negotiation Executive Education course in Cambridge, MA. During the course I have seen a lot of positive things to come out of the course. The most important thing I have seen was that it helped me to learn negotiation from an expert in negotiation himself, which is negotiation John Edwards. He is one of the top negotiators in the nation and a very good teacher. I learned a lot from him.

The other good thing I saw was that Harvard allowed the students to create reflections on various topics. This is really important because it gives the students an opportunity to see how they see the world and how they can improve themselves based on that perception. In other words they are giving them the opportunity to grow.

The focus on negotiation is really good. You get to practice negotiation skills while having fun at the same time. The last week I did a case with a real estate agency and it really made me realize how much good negotiation skills are really about. You do not necessarily have to like to negotiate to gain these skills. These skills can help you achieve success in your life.

The case was a commercial one but any negotiation could be applied to any business situation. If you look at any business in any country, you will see that the big issues are business vs. personal and economic negotiation vs. external economic or political negotiation. So you can see why the focus of the course is really on negotiation.

Most people who take the course actually like to negotiate. They feel that it is important to have a great skill set if they are going to succeed. I think that it is important to realize that a negotiation is a tool and is used in all aspects of life. It only makes sense that you would want to master it so that you can use it to your advantage.

What this course really teaches you is negotiation skills. However, the key to successful negotiation is having strong negotiation strategies. Once you have those strategies then the rest of the tool works together. These strategies include trust, position, credibility and flexibility.

The course does teach negotiation techniques but not in depth. So you must know how to negotiate by yourself. You can read the course however if you cannot put the information into action, then you may end up with a lot of questions. That’s ok, we offer a full money back guarantee if you are not satisfied with the information.

Overall we believe that a negotiation executive education is critical to the success of anyone wanting to enter business negotiations. There are lots of negotiation types including sales, buy-sell agreements and financial negotiations. A negotiation executive course would be good for these types of negotiation as well as all the other types of negotiation. Learning a few negotiation skills can help you become a more successful negotiator.
